I forgot to blog this... but I used a sewing machine for the first time since middle school. I made a blanket, almost entirely by myself! I think it turned out alright. Now I want a sewing machine.

August 16th 2009

Friday night, we went to a "Musical Ride" with Mum and Dad. It's where the RCMP (yes... the Royal Canadian MOUNTED Police) dress in their "mountie" outfits and ride their horses around a field doing some really neat things. Zach was excited to see real Mounties. There were a lot of people there, apparently the Musical Ride hasn't been to the Island in 20 years! It was pretty neat. The unfortunate part was that before the ride, they had some other performances. The second one was girls aged 5-16 or so doing "dance" and "gymnastics" on horseback. Mostly they just flailed their arms about. All fourteen took a two minute turn. Just when we thought it was about to end, they started doing it in pairs. It truly was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.
Today was Mum's birthday. To celebrate, we had Thanksgiving dinner. Well, we had Thanksgiving dinner because I missed it last year, and will miss it again this year. It was fun to have it in the middle of the summer. We also found some Christmas Crackers, so we had to do those with Zach too. He's still working on the house like crazy, and I have another week at the store. We're heading back to Utah next week, and are excited to see everyone and to get back into our routines down there!

-Filberg Festival-

August 3 2009

We spent the day at the Filberg Festival in Comox. It was neat to see all the things going on. My favourite is this nice rocking chair. Also, we saw five vultures eating a salmon on the river outside the condo this morning, which was cool.
